Fire Retardancy - All Jasper Chair Company products are manufactured to comply with California TB 117 as a minimum standard. Compliance with more stringent codes requires special manufacturing considerations and possible up-charges.

California TB 133 - We use either a barrier material between the fire retardant fabric and foam cushioning or a fire retardant fabric and foam in order to comply with California TB 133. Some product designs and fabrics cannot be combined to comply with California TB 133. Because of this, we reserve the right to reject any request for a fabric, including C.O.M., or product style that may compromise the integrity or safety of a product specified to comply with California TB 133. Please contact our customer service for pricing and availability to comply with California TB 133.

Finishes
Standard Finishes - Our standard wood finishes are samples that closely represent our standard colors. Please contact our customer service for actual wood finish samples.

Custom Finishes - We will make every effort to accurately match your custom sample. Please contact our Customer Service Department to determine if additional charges may apply. Due to limitations of some wood species, we reserve the right to decline requests.

Wood owes its inherent beauty to variations in color, graining, and texture in its natural state. In our finishing process, we attempt to accent this beauty rather than subdue it. Consequently, the chairs you receive may not be a perfect color match to a sample. Similarly, there may be minor variations in color from one chair to the next even though they are finished at the same time.

General Options
Glides - Rubber cushion chrome glides are standard on all Leg Base chairs. For wood or tile floor applications, we also offer a 7/8” diameter black nylon glide for an additional charge of $2.00 list per chair. Sled Base chairs are not supplied with glides, but, either of the above glide options are available for an additional charge of $5.00 list per chair.

Laser Engraving - Select chair models are available with laser cut backs.

Virtually any type of graphic design may be added to create a unique personalized creation. Contact our Customer Service department for details.

Finish Process

Each chair is sanded by hand using an orbital sander and inspected before being sent to the stain department. Depending on the type of finish, the chair may now receive several applications of stain. Following the staining operation, the chair is placed on one of our DeBurgh conveyor lines. In the first phase of the DeBurgh system, the chair passes through a drying oven to properly dry the stain and heat the chair to approximately 120 degrees. The temperature as well as humidity levels are controlled to ensure that the wood remains at the proper moisture content.

The chair, upon exiting the stain oven, is now given a coat of Resistovar Low Haps Self Sealing Topcoat. After the solvents in the sealer have been allowed to flash off, the chair again passes through another temperature controlled drying oven, spending 30 minutes in the 130 degree Fahrenheit oven before being cooled. Once cooled, it is sealer sanded automatically using a French design barrel sander. This machine completely sands the entire chair and does not cut through the stain as is normally done when sanded by hand.

After the sealer is sanded, the chair is coated with another layer of Resistovar Low Haps Self Sealing Topcoat. The chair is allowed to flash off, and then spends 45 minutes at 120 degrees in the first of two final drying ovens. Upon leaving the first oven it enters the curing oven. The chair spends 15 minutes in this oven which is heated to 150 degrees Fahrenheit and has several fans creating a turbulent air flow which aids in totally curing the finish. Finally, the chair is cooled and then inspected before being sent to packaging.

Resistovar Low Haps Self Sealing Topcoat is an alkyd urea formulation to be used as a self sealing system. It has a solids content of 33.5% per volume and the viscosity is 16-19 seconds on a #2 GE Zahn cup. The finish will not soften under extremely hot conditions and, in case of fire, will resist the spread of flames. It is resistant to gasoline, water, alcohol, household soaps and powders, coffee, wax crayons, ink, Mercurochrome solution, citric acid solution, food fats, and body perspiration. This material cures with the help of a catalyst and heat. Heat required to cause the chemical reaction is 140 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes. This finish can be patched or spot sprayed as effectively as any conventional finish.
